The WINTER QUILTING ROUNDUP usually begins at the end of January, coinciding with the Black Hills Stock Show and Rodeo. At this time we display the raffle quilt to be given away at our annual quilt show in June. If the next year’s raffle quilt is to be hand-quilted, it is set up on a frame and members come as they can to help with the quilting
Our annual QUILT SHOW is held the second weekend in June on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We set up on Thursday morning, hanging over 350 items including bed-sized quilts, as well as wall hangings, baby quilts, pillows and other smaller items. We have display areas for special interests, and if the Guild has chosen to host a challenge that year, an area is set aside to display those entries. At the end of the show, we give away our raffle quilt. Many committees keep the show running smoothly, so plan to volunteer for a committee that interests you Project Warmth has a section where quilts are for sale at greatly reduced prices. All monies go to support our quilting efforts such as buying batting, thread, special fabric, etc.. A Vendors Mall is also included in our Quilt Show.
The Guild assists in the Quilt Division at the Central States Fair. We hang the quilts for display and take them down at the end of the fair. We arrange and participate in demonstrations given to the public throughout the fair. We are also allowed to sell tickets on our raffle quilt.
Our FALL RETREAT is usually held in early October. This event runs from a Thursday night through late morning Sunday and features trunk shows, classes, meals and lodging in a beautiful setting. |
